Braylon's Next Move: Shave the Beard

After being pulled over for a DWI in New York at 5am what's Braylon Edwards going to do to get back in the public's good graces? Shave. Yeah, that's it. Braylon Edwards has to shave.

Braylon's beard looks like he's been lost in the woods. He looks like the 'Family Guy' episode when Peter Griffin had birds living in his beard. Basically, he looks like an ass. So with the whole world chiming in on how the Jets need to discipline him, Braylon needs to take the first step and break out the Barbosol and let the beard go.

Shaving the beard will be the equivalent of cutting the cornrows. Remember, other black athletes who have "kept it real" kept cornrows until they got in trouble. Micheal Vick was being investigated for the dog fighting ring. Cut the braids. Allen Iverson was the voice of the contrary hip hop generation. Got in trouble, cut the braids. Kobe Bryant did not have braids, but after the Colorado incident what did he decide to do? Change his number.

The public HAS to see some sort of outward remorse before they can forgive you Braylon. I've been in the media for years and have seen lots of athletes get themselves in and out of trouble time and time again. Look at your buddy Don'te Stallworth. After KILLING a man while driving drunk he served his 30 days in prison and paid a hefty sum to the family of the departed. (You were with him that night right?) Stallworth sat out the following season and changed teams. You have to change something for the public to embrace you, that's just the way this works.

Braylon you can bounce back from a simple DWI. The public is a forgiving public, this simply has to run it's course. You have to give the people something that they can see that let's them know you've changed.

You don't have cornrows so you can't make that move. You can't change your number because the NFL won't allow it and the Jets are not going to trade you so you can get a fresh start. The only answer, SHAVE THE BEARD! People will forget this in no time. Think I'm wrong? Ask Don'te. You can come back from this. Now where are those damn clippers?
